How are action movie protagonists represented and developed from
1991 to 2015?
My thesis is about how the protagonist is represented and
changed over the period of time. I will be looking at historical and social
events that happened during the making and the time of the films. I will look
at political and cultural issues and factors that took place during the period
of 1991 to 2015. I will analyse the way the protagonist has been affected and
developed throughout the years.
In action films the protagonist are stereotypically
represented masculine and brave. Protagonist is usually in trying to save or is
in danger caused by the antagonist within the films. I will be analysing this
in the films Mission Impossible (1996), Mission Impossible Rogue Nation (2015),
Iron Man 3 (2013), Batman Begins (2005), and The Terminator 2 (1991). I will be looking at how the protagonist has
changed through time and comparing this with the other films. I will look at
the way the protagonist is represented powerful and masculine and how this has
changed or kept the same.
